About The Mater Hospital:
The Mater Hospital is the national centre for lung health in Ireland. It is also the national centre for adult emergency respiratory life support (ECMO).
As one of the main hospitals in the country the Mater will be at the centre of the fight against Covid -19.
Over the coming weeks and months, our amazing staff will treat large numbers of Covid-19 patients while also still caring for other patients with life threatening conditions. One of the greatest needs for staff in the weeks and months ahead is ensuring that they have the supports they need to help them to deal with the psychological and emotional trauma that they will have to deal with, their mental health. Many of them will contract Covid-19 and become ill themselves as they are caring for patients.

We have some of the best doctors, nurses and support staff in the in world working in our hospitals. As the Taoiseach said “not all heroes wear capes, some wear scrubs and gowns”.
They spend their lives putting others before themselves. But the reality is, if they fall down we all fall down.

During the #lockdown many DJ’s and producers have been using Facebook to livestream to their fans, however this has not been without it’s challenges.

Mixcloud Live

Many livestream videos have been removed or had a portion of audio muted due to copyright issues.

As an artist myself I fully agree that the copyright is correctly assigned however other platforms have found ways to stream the music and pay the artist for royalties/copyright.

Now the online platform Mixcloud has come up with an alternative solution called Mixcloud Live, and although it is still in beta, you can take advantage of a 90 day free trial.

I was just reading the blog on Soundcloud and found out that you can now add a ‘support’ button on your profile on Soundcloud.

Below is the info copied from the Soundcloud blog. Please let me know if you add this button and also if you get a good response from you followers. I have updated my profile with it..feel free to check it out and see what it looks like on a profile.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been providing resources for artists to keep the music going, but with the financial repercussions of canceled shows and listeners asking how they can support the artists they love – we knew there was more we could do. 

So we’ve created a simple button for your profile where fans can instantly and directly show their support. All you have to do is choose where you want to send followers, give them a little context on what they’re supporting, and then let the world know by sharing on your socials. Here’s how it works:  

  • Click the “Edit” button on the top right side of your profile page on web
  • In the “Edit your Profile” pop-up, click “Add support link” to add a link to financial exchanges or online stores like Kickstarter, Bandcamp, Patreon, Paypal and more (full list of supported platforms can be accessed here – SoundCloud never takes a cut)
  • Hit “Save changes” to generate a Support button on your profile that’s visible above your stats and on your track pages
  • Use your bio to let fans know what they’re supporting – whether it’s your rent for the month or the album you dropped this week
  • Promote on socials so your day-ones know there’s a way to help you beyond playing your tracks on repeat
